My Army Experience

I started this site so I could document what it is like for an older guy to join the US Army. This website will document all the good, the bad, and the ugly. Surviving basic training, AIT school, and daily life in the US Army, all from an older guy's point of view.

It will allow friends and family the chance to see what is going on with my life especially during basic when I will have limited contact with the outside world. My basic training journals will be updated via my wife through letters that I send home. I will try to account for every day I am in basic, but as I have read from others this may be a tough task. There may also be others out there like me who want to know as much as possible about life in the army from real people, so here it is!

A little about me:

I was 36 years old when I started this. I've been in the I.T field for the last 15 years. I am married and have 3 children. My two daughters are 13 and 11 and my son is 9. I have lived in Washington State my entire life (if you don't count summers in Germany in an exchange program). I grew up in western Washington and moved to north central Washington about two years ago. --> Read More
